| Hi, as a new member of these forums (fora?) I just thought I would post my connections.
My G,G Grandfather was Richard Smith Born Leeds in 1832 he married Hannah (possibly Dyson in Dec¼ 1850) Born Bradford 1834 and they had six children including my Great Grandfather Nursur Smith. This Nursur Smith was the starting jolt that set me on tracing the family genealogy when I came into possession of a photograph of him with his name written on the back. Any help on this including possible source of the name Nursur would be much appreciated.

| Hi Jim, Glad you have found us and we will help where we can. What an unusual name. I found a hymn book in my great uncles house when he died and that set me off looking for Susan Etta Smith, all those years ago. _________________ Maxine Friendship~ Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down. - Oprah Winfrey |

Jim, thanks very much for sharing your interests on Maxine's WRY Board. We've added "Leeds and Bradford" to your subject title for the beneft of others who are also researching Smiths of those West Riding towns. Oh yes we must try and find if there are any other Nursur Smiths - as you say Maxine - that is a very unusual name.
Jim - is there anything else in particular you're looking for at the moment in connection with your Smiths research? If so - please tell us here and then we can see if we can help at all.......................... Hope we'll chat again soon |
Hello Jim,
Long time no speak. How are you going on with your research? Anything new to report?
Have you already got a record of the date of birth for Nursur, as I couldn't find him in the birth indexes for Leeds nor Bradford Districts. Just wondering if you have any Census Return details with names and ages of his siblings too?
You might already have obtained a copy Marriage Certificate for Nursur's parents? If not - are these the correct GRO index entries for the marriage, do you think?
Sept-December Quarter 1850 District: Bradford Y : GRO Vol/page ref: 23 301 Two entries matching the above page reference........ Smith Richard Dyson Hannah
Hope you'll call in soon and give us an update
Carole
