PostSubject: Calderdale Digital Archive "Weaver to Web"   Mon 25 Jun 2007 - 23:19

Maxine told me about this excellent site, quite some time ago, & its
now included in Smith Project's Links Cabinet.........

Its one of the New Opportunities Fund (NOF) digitisation projects.
"From Weaver to Web"
an online visual archive of Calderdale History giving access to over 23,000 images of historical documents.

Calderdale Council's "From Weaver to Web" is part of a textile-related regional consortium of projects entitled "Spinning the Web", alongside Manchester City Council (Spinning the Web), Blackburn and Darwen (Cotton Town) and Leicester City Council.

(Don't know the name of the Leicester Project - will have to check up on that)

The site includes, amongst many other digitised documents, some excellent maps. Here is an excellent Map showing the.........
Yorkshire Ridings and 1851 Census Districts Divisions
