>>The Descendents of John and Mary Smith>>

Looking now at the Isle of Man connection.

As shown within the descendency document,
one of the sons of John and Mary Smith was
Ebenezer Ralph Smith, born Ireland. He became
a partner in Capes and Smith, Estate Agents,
Manchester. His home was in Prestwich at the
time he died, 31 May 1851 at Lytham St Annes.
Buried at All Saints, Chorlton on Medlock.

He married twice, and his second marriage was
to Frances Dunn, 3 April 1831 at Prestwich.
They had a son, Ebenezer George Smith,
born 28 April 1839. Following the death of
Ebenezer Ralph Smith, Frances remarried to
Patrick Starkey at Braddon in the Isle of Man,
and died 3 October 1860 and is buried there.
Her husband was some 20 years her junior.

Descendents of Ebenezer George Smith
Her son, Ebenezer George Smith married
Elizabeth Kelly on 9 August 1859 at Kirk Braddan,
Isle of Man, when he was 20 years of age. As he
was a ship's purser, I am not sure when he came
to the island. They lived at Union Mills before
moving to Onchan. They had children:-

A) Ada Mona Smith, born 1858, clearly out of
--- wedlock, Isle of Man.

B) Florence Louisa Smith, born 1860 Isle of Man.
--- Both Ada Mona and Florence Louisa were
--- baptised 6 January 1861 at Marown, Isle of Man.
--- They were both working at Withington Assylum
--- as Hospital Attendants in 1881.

C) Ebenezer Ralph Smith, bapt.29 December 1861
--- at Marown, Isle of Man. Went to Australia.

D) John Henry Smith, baptised 22 November 1863,
--- at Onchan, Isle of Man.

E) Robert Stanley Smith, baptised 15 August 1866,
--- at Onchan.

F) Williamson Dunn Smith, born 1868 Isle of Man.
--- Died 18 December 1882, 51 Bullock Street,
--- Little Bolton.

G) Allen Douglas Smith, born 1870 in Liverpool,
--- married Sarah Barlow on 7 February 1891 at
--- St Gabriel, Hulme. They had 5 children. His
--- wife died some time before 1911 when Allen
--- emigrated to Australia, leaving 3 children and
--- taking the two boys. He died 24 February 1946.

H) Florence Smith, born 1873, Liverpool.
--- Went to Australia.

I) Paul Smith, born 1875 Liverpool.

J) Catherine Smith born 1877 Manchester Gorton.

K) Constance Smith born 1877 Manchester Gorton.

L) Letita Smith born 1880 Gorton.
--- Went to Australia.

Ebenezer George Smith died 30 January 1881
at Gorton.
