Summary of Interests/Message My Smiths can be traced back to Randell Smith b.1563 at Peckforton, Bunbury, Cheshire. We are descended from his son Hugh b.1601 and died 1662.
The family stayed in and around Bunbury Parish for the next 200 years. In the late 1700s they were living in Bath House, Horsley Lane which is on the Peckforton/ Beeston border in Bunbury Parish.
Richard Smith b.1786 married Sarah Dutton and they had a son called Peter who was a Registrar and Poor Law Officer in the area. His son George b.1836 married Mary Lightfoot in St Bride's Church in Liverpool in 1859 where they settled and raised a large family.
The Smiths remained in Liverpool until 1998 when my father died. The name Hugh was brought back into use, after a lapse of many years, by George and Mary for their first son born in 1860. It is still in use as a family name 400 years after that first recorded use in 1601! ___________________________________________
