Summary of Interests/Message
My great grandmother:
Elizabeth Smith b.c1852(?)
Father: Thomas Smith, labourer.

Elizabeth married James Reid
on 13 October 1870 at the
Parish Church of Liverpool.
James was FULL age whilst
Elizabeth was MINOR.

At the time of their marriage, both
James Reid (and his family) and
Elizabeth and the Smith family all
lived in Furlong Street, Liverpool
(off the Scotland Road area).

After Elizabeth gave birth to my
grandfather -
Christopher Reid, in 1872,
she seems to disappear, so does her
husband James Reid (but he would
most likely be away at sea).

Elizabeth is not recorded in the
1881 Census, but her son Christopher
is living in Liverpool with his uncle
and aunt - Charles and Mary Lucas
(both born in Ireland). Our Dad always
maintained that he had both Irish and
Scottish blood.

Elizabeth had at least one brother -
James Smith.

In the 1881 Census, there's
a Mary Smith widow 60 &
James Smith 27, living at the same
address as my people. So it looks
possible this could be James,
brother of my g.gran Elizabeth, &
if so, points to her and her family
as being of Irish descent.

I'm hoping that maybe some other
member(s) might be researching the
same family. Elizabeth's brother
James Smith will have most likely
married and produced offspring too
- hopefully.
