My Smith interests are:

Jonas Ambler Smith (my GGGrandfather)
a collier who was born on 18th Oct 1858
at Northerwram Halifax, the illegitimate
son of Ellen Smith. Jonas died in Burnley
workhouse on 29th March 1927.

Jonas's whole family moved from Halifax
to Burnley between 1891 and 1901.

I am aware of 5 children but suspect
that there were probably more as there
is a ten year gap which would have been
surprising.

The ones I know about are:
Thomas Smith b.1881 Halifax
Annie Elizabeth Smith
(my GGrandmother) b.1883 Halifax
Elsie Smith b 1893 Halifax
Ada Smith b 1894 Halifax
Ada married John Thornber, Burnley 1914.
Edith Smith b 1897 Halifax
Edith’s married name was Sedgewick
and she also lived in Burnley and died
there in 1958

Going back further all I have is:
Ellen Smith born c 1836 in Halifax….
her mother’s name was Mary and her
father had died before 1841.
Mary was also born in Halifax c 1797
but I don’t know her maiden name

I would love to hear from anyone else
researching this family
