I go by the handle of 'avalonfh' - Avalon Family History - but really am Allan Smith. My family are from Barnoldswick, once in Yorkshire but now in enemy held territory, from my Grandfather's birth in 1907. Before that his family are from Kirkam back to 1877. Before that the only reference I have is from a marriage cert and 1881 census.
John Smith born about 1857, a flax spinner in Kirkham, son of William Smith. deceased.
Not much to go on.

Good to hear from you. Can you clarify for me: was your John Smith born in Kirkham or did he just live there at some point? People were moving about a lot between 1857 and 1877.
