Following is a list of links that may prove useful in finding your ancestors. I will continue to add to this list. Criteria for new links are two fold. First, the link should be such that it will have broad interest and second, it should be useful in identifying “Smith’s” who immigrated to North America. If you have an interesting link, please post it as a reply and I will add it to this list.

British Homes Children Registry. 100,000 British Home Children (alleged orphans) were sent to Canada by over 50 British Child Care organizations.

I also encourage you to consider participation in the Northeastern United States Smith DNA Project at http://smithconnections.com/index.cgi It may seem unusual to look to "the colonies" for information about your ancestors, but keep in mind that many of the U.S. researchers share your ancestry. DNA is providing scientific proof of family lines and cousin connections. There are now 55 subgroups (two or more men with matching DNA patterns) and dozens more that have not found a match yet. Maybe your male Smith relative has DNA that can connect you with unknown family members that have new information that you didn't know about. Please join us!
