PostSubject: Smiths of Thornhill   Sun 5 Aug 2007 - 15:48

Henry Smith son of James married Isabella Butcher. Henry ought to be born Thornhill but I can find him at all - b1850-1852

His father James may well have died in his early life mid 40-50's. I cannot find his birthplace. The Butchers came from Kirkburton to Thornhill. Did the Smiths as well as they are close in family terms. One thing is certain in view of the number of Smiths they moved to Thornhill from elsewhere. Question is from where.

Do you know? Can you fill in those gaps?

Come on you all

Give a Yorkshire Guy living in the IOM a little bit of help. Someone must know......

Carole I know we beat Blackburn 2-1. Don't hold that against me!

Hiya Town Terrier,

Great to see someone here who lives in the Isle of Man!! and a Yorkshireman too. No good asking me anything about Blackburn Rovers, I'm way behind with what they're up to these days. Laughing Who was it who beat us then - Isle of Man or a Yorkshire team? No doubt my dad, son & grandson would know immediately what you're talking about.

I see that Mattycat has kindly found some 1851 data, that might be of interest to you. And we'll see if we can up with anything else for Smiths of Thornhill & Kirkburton.

oh & yes, as matty said - any local interest info about the Isle of Man would be gratefully received on the IoM board.

PS: Have I got your real name correct as Graham Smith? for including in The Smith List?
