PostSubject: Help needed to find a death   Fri 9 Oct 2009 - 18:42

Hiya all,
I am struggling to find Isaac Jones death Certificate.
born 1843 Meifod, Montgomeryshire, Wales. He moved to Bebbington cheshire and Married Mary Fairhurst born 1849 Bebington, Cheshire, England and died 06 Apr 1901 Rochdale .
married 17 Apr 1870 Bebbington.
They moved to Rochdale Lancashire where the children where born. I know that when Mary died on her death cert it says she was widow. I have looked at the 1891 census and hes there but by 6th April 1901 when Mary died he had already died. I have searched the death indexes but can not find him in Rochdale. Family say so says that he fell of a steeple. Any ideas?

Hi Maxine

What a sad story. Do you think he was a steeplejack? If so are there any records pertaining to that employment? Alternatively, are there any accident reports in local papers?

Good luck Gillian

I thought, it might mean a tirp to Rochdale achives and read the papers myself. His profession was gerneral Labourer on his wife Marys death Cert. It left my grandad Jones an orphan at 10 years old. He was taken in by other realtives luckly for him. His Mother died after an accident also, he clothes set on fire and she died 28 days later due to the burns. That story was correct that had been passed down, so I am hoping that Isaacs story is also correct.
