PostSubject: William Charles Smith b1836 Stoke Newington Mddx (to Surrey)   Thu 23 Apr 2009 - 19:28

wave I'm trying to find out more information about my great grandfather William Charles Smith who was born around 1836 in Stoke Newington, Middlesex, England. He married Emma Farley and had 8 children including my granfather, George.
By 1873 the family had moved to Limpsfield in Surrey.
I am keen to find out about his ancesters and to make contact with any other descendants via the 8 children: George, Arthur, Edith, Ellen, Emily, Emma, Chrales and Alice.
I do hope somebody can help.

Very Happy Hi Maxine and
Welcome smith-r55,
Thanks very much for sharing your Smith interests. If you hadn't already got the 1871 data that Maxine found, I'm sure it will be most helpful to you.

A bit more info - for if you haven't yet got William and Emma's marriage certificate
(which of course should give their father's names and occupations).

from the Freebmd.org.uk database
Marriages Index 1863 January-March Quarter
Chertsey Registration District (Surrey) Vol/page 2a/31
SMITH William Charles
FARLEY Emma

The old Chertsey Reg District registers are now held by the North Surrey district (Weybridge). Information for obtaining copy certificates directly from the Weybridge Registry Office, and their contact details can be found at.........
>> Surrey County Council > Family records and copy certificates >>

Good Luck and please keep us informed on your progress good stuff!!

Carole

PS: Gillian is the Co-ordinator of our Green Usergroup >>Smith-Other UK & Ireland>> and I'm sure will be pleased to include you the next time she does a Group update.
