Dear Carole
I have followed your instructions," Inserting Images". Hope I got it right.
This a photo of my grandfather Walter and my Grandmother Frances. I have found out that Walter father(George) died when he was 9 in 1900 and his mother re-married. His mother maiden name was Shepherd, not Horgan as I thought, that was her 2nd married name. Mary died in 1913 and her son James by her 2nd marriage went to Australia, I am in contact with Horgan family, But not with any of my Smiths. Hope someone may see a resemblance to some of their Smiths
Bye

Hi Jean,

I know its a long time since you posted this - but - I want to put a link to it on our new scrolling list "A Selection of Smith postings" on the Portal, and include a thumbnail of the lovely photo of Walter and Frances - is that OK with you? But just wondering if you can tell me - whereabouts in Wales they were born, married and/or died? then we can clarify it here for the interest of our members.

Talk soon,
Carole wave

Hi Carole

Yes it OK with me.

Walter was born in Porthcaldo, Cornwall in 1891, his mother Mary was from Pembroke and his father George was from Southwark, London. After George died the family moved back to Pembroke.
Frances was from Pembroke, her father was William and her mother Martha, her maiden name was Kennea.
Walter and Frances were married in Pembroke in 1913 and then moved to Barry to live.
They were still in Barry when they died Frances died in 1967, Walter had died a few years early not sure of date.

Hi Jean,

Thanks very much for that information. All that "rings bells" & I'm sure that you've posted similar data previously, but I couldn't find another topic. That's strange!! Did I dream it!! Shocked will have another look for it.

But anyway - in the meantime......
I cropped your lovely photo of Walter and Frances to a "head & shoulders" - and made the "thumbnail" image which is now on the "Selection of Smiths" scroll, with a link to this topic. Here's a copy of the thumbnail..........

It's a lovely photo, isn't it Jean, & very precious, I'm sure. Thank you for sharing it.

See you later wave
