A recently discovered American 'cousin' sent me copies of some Bishop's Transcripts from Bunbury, Cheshire. Our related Smith families were neighbours on Horsley Lane (on the boundary of Peckforton and Beeston) in 1800s.
An interesting entry in the burial records reads:
'July 10 1639 - Lawrence Smith of Peckforton who being full of drink falling from his horse upon a stone had his skull broken and his brains shaken out in parts.'
Although we can not be certain I believe he was a son of Randell and Alice Smith of Peckforton who were married in 1592. I wonder whether there is any way in which we can find out more about the incident which led to his death? Do you have any ideas?
Gillian
