Hi Jim

I was surprised to discover that Find My Past doesn't seem to use Paypal. I also note that some countries such as Australia and New Zealand have set up their own links but not USA.

I have been having a look around and so far no joy. However, I have put out a Mayday call to my colleagues here at Smith Chat and hope that someone will have a solution! All I can say is 'watch this space'!

Good Luck, Gillian

Hi Jim,

Gillian mentioned your request for information about using PayPal to pay for access to the 1911 Census transcripts and scans at the new 1911 Census site.

I knew that FindmyPast.com vouchers can be purchased at the
"My History- Genealogy Supplies" website (for our members' convenience - you'll see we have a Banner Link to that site on the Smith Chat Portal and also in our Links Cabinet)

So I went to explore, and if I've understood correctly, it does look as though you can use Paypal there for both Findmypast.com and the 1911 Census Vouchers.......

On the page at >> My History - Genealogy Supplies >>
scroll down and see - it says.......

Quote:

Find My Past Subscriptions and 1911 Census Vouchers

You no longer need to submit your credit card to Find My Past to set up a subscription. Vouchers are ideal for people who do not have a credit card or who do not wish to give out personal financial information online. The vouchers also make a great gift for anyone you know who is just getting started in family history. Vouchers may be paid for by Cheque, Paypal or credit card.

So I hope that helps Jim. Please let us know how you go on with that & if it works OK good stuff!!

Carole

PS - I'm back again. I'm thinking now that this might only apply when you're paying for quite an expensive subscription?? and not for the "Pay-as-you-go" Vouchers. Anyway - see what you find there Jim. Good luck!!

I have been in Ireland for a few days so I missed all this excitement!! You are making progress! Good luck with the Royal Navy searches that Maxine put you on to and look forward to hearing more. Gillian

Hi Jim

As far as I can establish Gerald Street no longer exists. However, if you visit this website

http://www.leverpoole.co.uk/

you will find old maps and all sorts of interesting things. Gerald St. was near Erskine St. and that still exists. You can locate it on the Google map website which nis very easy to find.

Jim

I have found Gerald, St off Erskine St. on the 1930s map on the above website http://www.leverpoole.co.uk/. It is right of Brunswick St. on this map.
