My Hughes Ancestors were married at St James, Toxteth Park, & I'd recently been surfing around the Liverpool sites for more information about St. James's.

It's amazing what interesting snippets of info you can come
across just by "surfing around" isn't it!! I came across this on
Patrick Neill's Hibernia site - Indexes Of Irish/RC And Others In The Liverpool Area

There is one Elizabeth Smith included on the following index.......
dates are between 1796 to 1805, the first in 1796 is transcribed as
"a Negro was baptised"
Ancestors Of The Black Population Of Liverpool - In The Baptisms of St James Church, Toxteth
Transcribed by & © 2007 Helen Swift / Indexed by Patrick Neill

Noted this, as I thought sometime someone somewhere in the future
might just be looking for this Elizabeth Smith, and if so, could be followed up for possibly more details for Elizabeth in the registers held at Liverpool Record Office.
