Was it me.

I’ve spent too long on my own in my mind.
Too many thoughts, some are good, some unkind.
Been there too long and now I know it’s time to find.
Someone to share my life and let my thoughts unwind.

Too many nights out on the town and drinking wine.
A love of life, fast cars and women, feeling fine.
And though I know with every day I walked the line.
I couldn’t help but carry on and make life mine.

Friends moved on and all got married, I didn’t slow.
Flying to work around the world, places to go.
Did I like the life I lived or was it show.
Did I hurt the ones I loved, I’ll never know.

I moved on again each time to places new.
Work hard, play hard we’re now the chosen few.
Speaking always in past tense of when we grew.
From boys to men and all the countries that we knew.

But time moves on, leaves you behind and takes its toll.
You have to know just when to rock and when to roll.
The mind is young but then the body like a ball.
It gets let down and then the mind it takes a fall.

Yet no regrets I live the book within my mind.
All the blood sucked out of life I can rewind.
No hidden thoughts of things I’ve missed and yet to find.
I’ve lived off love and life on both of these I’ve dined.

My family are like stars in the night sky of my life.
Always there at the end of the day.
The light of their love forever constant as the Northern star.
Safely guiding me home.
Dreams are the realities of tomorrow.
Everyone is in tune with the spirits of their ancestors. Unfortunately some are tone deaf.
