PostSubject: The Smiths of Blackburn   Sun 10 Jun 2007 - 9:45

I am searching for Smiths who lived in and around the St Albans Area of
Blackburn.
That is Daisy Street, Cleaver Street, Primrose Bank, Trinity
Street,Moss Street, Cob Wall and all streets in between.

I still live in this area so even if the streets are gone the Smiths remain

Looking from 1880 to present Day.

Starting with George Smith of Cowling in the WRY and his wife Margaret Maxwell of Glasgow.

All information gladly recieved even if they do not match I am starting a data base for all Smith enquiries.

I did have a data base set up but when I tried to move it from one pc to another the inevitable happened... and no back up..

Associated Names are Maxwell, Ganley and Carey

I can be contacted at............. ** see below
All will be replied to

David Smith

Hello David,

Good to have another Smith on the Forum, I was Smith before marriage as was Carole .. there are a lot of us about.

Do you have the birth/baptism of George Smith and his marriage? if not I will gladly search for you if you can give me a rough idea of the year and I presume that the place of his birth is Cowling West Riding of Yorkshire. Anyway if you need help just let me know with the area and year.

wave Hello David and Welcome to Smith Chat (& hiya mattycat :ck-smile: )

........ its great to see another Blackburnian Smith here. I live at Livesey.

So just briefly for now about my own Smiths. My line came to Blackburn in about 1860, from Burnley. They'd originally moved to Burnley early 1800s from West Riding Yorks - Gargrave area. Mine have never really lived in Cob Wall area of Blackburn but I'll check what if any data for Smiths of that area I might have in my resources. Mine always mostly lived King Street/Bank Top area.

My own Smith Family Tree is in need of update soon to include my Gargrave Smiths - but this will give you an idea of my Burnley/Blackburns -
My entry in the Smith List is... 1-CSM My Smith Tree

Their are other Project Members researching Smith of Blackburn -
See Ian McNulty's Interest Summary which is still at the original East Lancs Communigate site Ian McNulty - 14-IMC

You'll also find other Smith of Blackburn researchers listed in the
A-Z Project Members List - & look down the "Lancashire" column.
Also look down the "WRY" column - for Cowling.

Look forward to chatting again :ck-wink:

Hope you'll post an update for us here some time soon David? & let us know if there's anything in particular - data-wise - that you're looking for at the moment.
