PostSubject: Smiths of Clayton le Moors   Thu 15 Oct 2009 - 21:51

James Broadley age 50 widower, banksman at coal pit residing Henburn Bridge son of Thomas Speak huntsman married Mary Smith age 47 spinster of Enfield daughter of John Smith weaver 7 sep 1851 at St Mary's Enfield RC. I found Mary Smith in 1841 in Canal Row, Clayton le Moors with John Smith 65 Joseph 25 and Elizabeth 20. In 1851 in Oakenshaw Mary Smith unmarried was a bread baker with sister Elizabeth Pickup, married 32 and nephew John 6 (no husband). In 1861 in Clayton le Moors Mary Broadley head widow age 54 with Elizabeth Pickup lodger married 40 John 16 Joseph Smith widower 44 John Smith 14 and Thomas 1. Mary lived 1805-79. Elizabeth Smith married Edward Pickup at Altham 24 June 1844. I am not interested in this family apart from Mary's marriage to James, but thought I'd post it in case anyone else is, best wishes, Marie
