Very Happy Looks like I am one of the first on here so all I will say at the moment is that my interests are on the military side of those people who originate in Lancashire. If anyone is interested in findo=ing out about an ancestor in WW1 or WW2 the please let me know I may have a small piece in the puzzle you are after. Very Happy

Hi Mike

I've only just joined and am interested in finding out more about the family of James Smith and Mary Hodges who I think originally came from around Bury and ended up in Macclesfield. The period was around 1835-1851 for Macclesfield. Their son Jonathan moved to Manchester around 1860 but more of him in another post!

My Grandfather William Smith fought in WW1 - he was in the Welsh Fusilliers. He was born in Collyhurst Manchester and moved to Wales

Hi Mike & Gillian,

My Smiths came for Holcombe near Bury in Lancashire and Gillian I have a James Smith born 1822 parents Peter & Susannah Smith they were married in 1811 at Bury Parish Church. It's too much to expect at this early stage he is connected to your James? Surprised

Good luck with the research
