SMITH convicts who were imprisoned at Lancaster Castle
before transportation to Australia.

These are extracted from the Castle's Database here
(there are of course many other surnames indexed there too)

The Lancaster Castle website researchers would like to hear from anyone with any information for any of the following Convicts (& so would we at the Smith Project)

Margaret Smith
Age: 21
Crime: Theft of a bill of exchange and banknotes
Time of Trial: March 1817

Peter Smith
Age: 26
Crime: Theft from a dwelling house
Time of Trial: March 1817

Robert Smith
Crime: Felony
Time of Trial: 23 October 1816
Sentence: 1 year

Sarah Smith
Age: 21
Crime: Passing counterfeit coins
Time of Trial: March 1818
Sentence: 2 years + £20 sureties

Thomas Smith
Crime: Felony
Time of Trial: 7 April 1818
Sentence: 1 year

William Smith
Crime: Misdemeanour
Time of Trial: 21 July 1818
Sentence: 6 months

William Palfrey Smith
Age: 25
Crime: Theft in Liverpool
Time of Trial: August 1818
