Westmorland Rifle Volunteers

Rifle competition at Windermere 1871
The usual Christmas competition of the members of the 5th Westmorland Rifle Volunteers, for 5 pounds kindly given by Captain Boulton, came off at the range on Tuesday, under that gentleman's efficient superintendence. The weather was very foggy, and unfavourable for shooting, and the scores, as may naturally be imagined, therefore, were scarcely up to the average, though some excellent individual shooting was noted. The following is a correct list of the competitors, and the scores made:
