Hi to all our members and guests wave

During this month the forums' structure and content is under review by Admin and Moderators, so a few minor changes to the hierarchy structure and the sub-boards' content are possible. Any such changes will be reported here in Social Club's Chit-chat board and pinned to the Calendar if and when these occur.

To all members - if you have any suggestions or ideas of your own as to new content or other changes you would like to see at Smith Chat, we would be really glad if you'd let us know. Please post your comments by reply to this Topic, or if you prefer Private Messaging, you can please contact any member of the >> Vigilant Moderators Group >>

We'll look forward to your comments and suggestions Great Stuff!!

Another Notice to all members

Technical glitch at the Forums in September
The Moderators reported that during my recent absence from the site, there had seemed to be some technical errors occurring from mid-late September, which had resulted in several of their Topics going missing.

Whatever was the problem, I'm confident it's now been fixed, but we are concerned that perhaps other members' who had posted topics during that same period, may find some of their posts also missing. Welcome Topics posted by Maxine and Gillian to the following members went missing.....
Smith-r55
stark2008
GaryS1876
sirromy
dmursch
Mini_50
marl
and so we'd be grateful if these members especially, but also anyone else, would please check for anything you had posted yourself in September. If you find anything seems to have gone amiss, which I sincerely hope not, please will you >> Email Me >> to let me know.

Thanks
Carole

Site Maintenance - an Update

About the missing posts......
Quote:
Technical glitch at the Forums in September
The Moderators reported that during my recent absence from the site, there had seemed to be some technical errors occurring from mid-late September, which had resulted in several of their Topics going missing.

It's now apparent that the dates the forums were affected by technical
glitches were different periods throughout September. Of the new members listed in my last post above, I now know that topics posted by Mini_50 and marl in September are missing. I've contacted you privately Mini_50 and marl and I do sincerely hope you'll re-post once we resume after next Monday, the 3rd November.

There also appear to be two or three posts from September missing from the
Britons to Australia Board. Once I know which member/s had posted these, I'll contact you privately. Please accept our sincere apologies and steps have been taken to reduce the risk of this ever happening again at
Smith Chat.

Slight Changes to some of the Boards

[The "Welcome New Members" Board has now been
moved into.....Edit - reviewed >> see update below>>

The "Regulations, Help & FAQs" Board is now a stand-alone board at the
top of the main Forums Index. Within that Board, Maxine has created an
index to all the Help Topics, which we hope members will find useful.
>> Index to help topics and FAQs >>

All short-term Announcements will in future be posted on a "Seasonal Noticeboard"
(such as the one you now read ck-wink ) here on the Social Club's "Coffee Break Chit Chat" Board.

The Smith & Related Genealogy & Local History Boards.
Please see.........

>> To those with Isle of Man Interests

>> To those with Cheshire interests

>> To those with Cumberland or Westmorland interests (Cumbria)

See you next week!! wave
Don't forget the fireworks!!

Remember, remember!!!

Hello everyone,

This will probably be the last Notice on the Autumn Noticeboard this year!! it'll soon be time for the Winter one! But to keep our members informed.....

on 30th Oct 08, on this Noticeboard above, I wrote....
Quote:
The "Welcome New Members" Board has now been
moved into "Social Club...............

After further review we decided that the separate "Welcome New Members" Board is no longer necessary, as most new members prefer to go directly to the Genealogy Boards to post their Smith and related interests. So instead, we hope that new members, if they wish to do so, will please call into Social Club and introduce themselves informally, at any time that suits them best.

The following FAQ Topic has been updated to reflect the same.......
FAQ: Where do I post my first Topic/message?

The old "Welcome Messages Archive" sub-board which includes messages posted up to end August 2008, has now been moved into the "Chit Chat Archive". More recent Welcome Topics have been moved into the Coffee-Break Chit-Chat main board.

Hi everyone,

Well its nearly time to change over to the Winter Noticeboard. brrrrrr.

Nothing else to report at the moment, except that the Isle of Man Board's re-opening will be delayed a little while longer. This is because we are a little "short-staffed" at the moment due to Maxine's absence because of family emergencies that have cropped up for her. Hope you're OK Maxine & we are missing you. Looking forward to your return - but of course - family come first.

But anyway - Gillian has started this year's Christmas count-down to Christmas fun stuff!! in Chit-Chat. So hope more of our members' will join in this year - with the silly stuff we sometimes do!!
Here it is >>> santa Christmas Capers! Christmas!! >>>

I'm now locking this Autumn 2008 Noticeboard, and will be back with the Winter Noticeboard next week!!
