| I bought ice creams at an Ice Cream stand on St Annes Promenade throughout this Summer's school holidays (July to September), usually twice a week - on my day trips with Ben, my grandson age 8. Ben has these....... 99s (I wonder why they call them 99s just because they have a chocolate flake stuck in them ???) But - Cornetto's for me!! St Annes Beach viewed from Lytham with the Pier in the background. Fylde Culture & Tourism - Lytham & St Annes of SeaApart from the Ice cream stand on the prom, we sometimes buy them from the shop at the entrance to the Pier.... (ooh happy days!! making happy lasting memories! :ck-smile: ) | Quote: |
St Annes Pier Image from Fylde.com
"...The town of St Annes was mostly laid out according to a plan drawn up by businessmen who saw the economic benefits of attracting large numbers of visitors from the mill towns in the east. It retains much of it's original character today, but has less style than Lytham, it's near neighbour. It is a traditional quiet Victorian / Edwardian seaside resort with up-market hotels, a sandy beach, donkeys, a small pier and ice cream stalls. It also has picnicable sand dunes fringing the beach, and an excellent, but little known sand dune nature reserve, international sandyacht racing championships, and very good floral displays..... Thought I'd add that interesting little snippet :ck-wink:

| Greetings Don and Carole! :wave2: Well..we can't remember when we last stopped at an ice cream stand, but, the ice cream comes to us in UK. We live very close to a school so the 'Ice Cream van' stops just round the corner at 3.30pm every school day! When our grandchildren visit you can guess what happens! 99s all round. In Spain there is an Italien Ice cream parlour at the top of the road where they sell ENORMOUS and very expensive ice cream concoctions. Of course I am on a diet.............. Ah well! we can't be good ALL the time can we? :ck-wink: :santa:  Gillian ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ''What will survive of us is love.''Philip Larkin

| Hi all. I seem to remember an icecream parlour in whitehorse, Yukon territory. If I remember it was called Wendy's. Are they in the States as well Don??
