| Godd Morning All,
In 1935, George Gershwin composed “Summertime”, one of the scores in Porgy and Bess. This past week has conformed to summertime’s tempo,
....Summertime, ....And the livin' is easy ....Fish are jumpin' ....And the cotton is high
The song has been recorded by many performers. It was my thought prior to posting this that Janis Joplin’s rendition (see-listen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgFWibrTAKQ) was at the top of my list. However, listening to Ella Fitzgerald’s and Louis Armstrong’s version (see-listen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yKgAEkCKxY&feature=related) , I am now torn between the two.
Question for the day is who was/is your performer for this classic? _________________ Don |
