| Hello, Happy Friday the 13th.
Thought I’d share a beagle story with you and see what stories you may have.
Beagles have personalities. They are also “thinking” dogs. One of my first encounters with a beagle was many years ago just after we got married. Both of us were students at the University of Massachusetts and counting our pennies at the time. One of my wife’s professors needed a house sitter while she was away for several days. This was a paying gig so we volunteered. She, the professor, had an older beagle, Emily, a very tranquil dog. The first night there, we were in bed and Emily attempted to hop onto the bed with us. We put her in the doggie bed. OK, all is good. Lights out and we are drifting off to sleep and then I here water running. Did we leave the bathroom faucet on? I hopped out of bed to turn it off. The throw rug beside the bed was soaked. I never knew a dog could hold that much water. Emily had made her point – she was in charge.
What pet stories can you share? _________________ Don |

| Hi Don!! oh no!!! awwww poor old Emily!!
When I adopted my cat, Bob, 4 years ago, he had already reached maturity, and had begun to give off "that Tom-cat smell"!! You know the one I mean!! phwoa-oa-oa - when tom-cat's spray - that pong!! I made arrangments to take him to the Vet for neutering. Bob was at that time a very nervous cat, as he had been mistreated as a kitten until my daughter in-law rescued him, and she was the only human being he would go to, or allow to stroke or hold him. (Now - I'm the only human he will allow to pick him up, or have him on my lap - though he lets other people stroke him if I am present)
Anyway - back to four years ago - when he was still very nervous of me, and I endured being scratched and hissed-at quite a lot until he realised that I love him and the hand that feeds him!! Until then, he would just hide under a cupboard or in a corner when I approached him. So - my dad came to help me to get him into the Cat Carrier to take him to the Vets for "the op". Oh what a performance!! - because Bob was so frightened - both me and my dad were scratched and bitten during the "chase"! and both ended up with "that spray stink" all over us! Eventually had to throw a cover over the whole of him, scoop him up in that, in order to get him into the Carrier. Then when I did get him into the Vet's surgery, I had a repeat performance!! this time involving the Vet's nurse! and Bob's spray stunk out the whole surgery!!
But anyway - the job was done - never been any more of that smelly spray, and Bob is lovely and we are affectionately bonded now.

| What great stories! We had a dog called Ben, a Jack Russell, who had been bred in Wales by a sheep farmer to protect the flock from foxes. However, Ben was timid and unsuited to his task. We were friendly with the farmer because we spent our holidays close to his farm. He was aware that our youngest child was desperate to own a dog and offered Ben. They bonded well because being only 4yrs old she accidently dropped him, a small puppy, in the river which ran through the farm. Fortunately it was on a ford and she rescued him immediately. We were close by so no one was in real danger, however, from that moment on Ben regarded the 4 yearold as his rescuer and loved her! | Gillian - Now, that relationship sounds like one founded by baptism .
Carole - That is one stinky cat story. I’ve always been somewhat partial to cats but have never convinced my wife that we should have one. With this story, I don’t stand a chance of changing her mind.
Several years ago, I was caught in a compromising position , fraternizing with a feline.

I have had to keep this photo hidden from the Beagles, they would not understand.
