| Good Morning, Its Monday Again! Today's media topic is Humphrey Bogart. Bogart, a movie icon, was the lead in many notable films include The Maltese Falcon (1941), Casablanca (1942), To Have and Have Not (1944), Key Largo (1948), The African Queen (1951), The Caine Mutiny (1954), We're No Angels (1955) and The Left Hand of God (1955). Altogether, he appeared in 75 feature motion pictures.
Which of his films is your favorite?
I vote for the Maltese Falcon. It's a good story, great actors and over all well done. Besides, who doesn’t like Sam Spade?

| Hi Don! Well, you are quite a film buff aren't you Don? I feel at a disadvantage here because when I was growing up we didn't have TV and we rarely went to the cinema. Once I was married I had no time!! I wonder why? I married very young by modern standards! So the most I can say is 'no comment'. Sorry about that. | Hi Don and Gillian,
Well I think Casablanca is the one that I have in my mind... would this be right....... He's sat in a cafe on a railway station with a woman - who I think might be Ingrid Bergman??? and he says something like "here's to looking at you, kid..".
Is this really in a Humphrey Bogart film?? or have I dreamt it?
I really don't know much about him - was he American? Well I think he's one of my mum's heroes - I bet my mum will know all those films - but not seeing her until Thursday now
Going to watch Emmerdale and Corrie now - Monday Night!! See you later aligators. _________________ Carole, Smith Project/Smith Chat Admin Nothing is too small to know, and nothing too big to attempt (William Van Horne) |

| Carole Casablanca was also a Bogart classic, probably one of his most well known. Click on the link for information on this film http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casablanca_(film)
Gillian, you need to get yourself to a video store and rent these films. I think you'd enjoy them. _________________ Don |

| Hi Don I'm a great film buff too. I love all the old films, when I was growing up the cinema was just around the corner from my grandmother house and I spent a large part of younger days visiting the cinema. Humphrey Bogart was one of my favourites, along with James Cagney and its great when they show the old films on T.V My favourite would have to be the African Queen. Humphrey Bogart was married to Lauren Bacall Jean |

| Quote: | Casablanca is an Oscar-winning 1942 romance film set in the Vichy-controlled Moroccan city of Casablanca. The film was directed by Michael Curtiz and stars Humphrey Bogart as Rick Blaine and Ingrid Bergman as Ilsa Lund.......... When Ilsa first enters the Café Americain, she spots Sam and asks him to "Play it once, Sam, for old times' sake......... The line "Here's looking at you, kid.", spoken by Rick to Ilsa.................... was voted in a 2005 poll by the American Film Institute as the fifth most memorable line in cinema history | |
