An earlier Beagle Log posting focused on Expo 67 in Montreal. This is a picture of a notable landmark from the 1962 World's Fair.

What can you tell me about the 1962 World's Fair and the subject of this photo?

Hola Don!

Well I have to admit that today I have cheated! Thanks to a site which displays old postcards I know what this is!!
So as not to spoil it too much for everyone else who may not want to cheat? I shall just say it is in Seattle and has to do with travel!

Adios Gillian

Hi everyone
Do you like my dancing dog? Can't remember where I found him, but he cheered me up when I was feeling down one day.
I hope he does the same to you too.

The 1962 World Fair was in Seattle, but I don't know what the landmark is.

Luv JFS

Hi everyone,
Love your little dancing dog JFS, Very Happy yes cute and cheerful!

Don - I don't know the name of the Landmark - but....????
In the film "Sleepless in Seattle", if I remember correctly, Meg Ryan (the actress) went up to the top of some high building to meet someone. I'm almost sure that whatever building it was, it had a landmark-ish sort of name?? Was it this Tower?

See you later

Congratulations, collectively you got the answers.
The structure is the Space Needle, constructed for the 1962 World's Fair in Seattle.

The Space Needle now hosts a revolving restaurant at the top.

Seattle, the Emerald City, is one of my favorite cities. I’ve been fortunate to have visited it on several occasions. The downtown area is easy to get about. There is an old section going back to the 1880’s when the City was a major logging center. (The term skid row comes from Seattle. Logs were slid down the street to the waterfront.) There are many excellent restaurants and numerous microbreweries. Travel from Seattle, across Puget Sound by ferry, to Bremerton where the Navy Shipyard is located, is spectacular.

Aaa right!! thanks Don.

and guess what - I've now remembered that in "Sleepless in Seattle" it wasn't in Seattle where Meg Ryan went to the top of high building to meet someone (who I now remember was Tom Hanks!! Laughing ) It was actually the top of the Empire State Building - and that's New York isn't it??? ck-hrrmm

See you later & have a great day

Carole hello you

Yes, the Empire State Building is in New York City. Its been 10-15 years since that movie was released hasn’t it?
