Very Happy Hello members,

So sorry about my absence from the site in recent weeks. Had a bout of illness then other home & family matters have needed all my attention. I'm feeling a lot better now and will get back on track with Smith List and Smith Chat as soon I can.

Anyway, it's great to see that the Forums have still been kept ticking over by our Moderators and Members. Than you to all of you. Heck!! its September tomorrow already!! Schools go back this week. Goodness - where has the Summer gone?

I'll chat to you all again soon.

Hi Carole

Sorry to hear you have been ill, glad you are better now.
You said summer gone. What summer?...Raining again today but we can't feel too sorry for ourselves, when those poor people in New Orleans are having to leave they homes because of the storms coming.

But on a lighter note, did you watch the Olympics. Britain did well, with all those medals.

Keep well
Love Jean

Carole, happy to see your post and the welcome back responses. Summer 2008, although receding into history, is still holding on here. Weather has been in the high 80's and the weather has been very pleasant.

Hurricane Gustav has mad landfall but has not proved to be as disastrous as Katrina. The next hurricane in the queue is Hanna which is expected to hit the southeast coast later this week. Following Hanna is Ike; they (hurricanes) are lined up like a crowd waiting for a concert.

Now Ike may cause me some concern. We are planning our annual trip to the beach, Rehoboth Beach in Delaware, for the week of 14 September. Well there is not much I can do about that so will just wait to see how it develops.

Jean, in the thread on American Politics you asked what I know about Sarah Palin – I probably know no more then you do if you have been watching the news. I think she is an exciting pick for VP and will either prove to be a brilliant choice or a disaster. I’ll let you know in NovemberJ

Hola y buenas noches from sunny Spain!

Yes I'm here again and glad to reach warmer climes. At the moment the pool water is warm enough for a pleasant swim at 8am so I am managing a morning and afternoon session! I am unpacked and am slowly turning the apartment into a home again. My husband is still in UK doing 'man' things in connection with his hobbies. He will follow me out in 10 days time.

It is great to have Carole back, don't work too hard Carole!

Hasta la vista,
Gillian

Big Smile Hi everyone and thanks for your messages,

And thanks Daz for that lovely little verse. Also, have just read and replied your other Topic from last night - that you wrote whilst you were enjoying your red wine Laughing

Yes - I was back last month - then went away again didn't I!! Embarassed So sorry - and doesn't it always happen that way - you just think you're getting back on track and other stuff comes along to set you even further back! ck-shocked
Well I'm here now and fingers crossed - will gradually start to move forward once again with Smith Project and Smith Chat.

Done some "behind the scenes" Admin work this afternoon and will be back tomorrow, all being well, for some more catching up. And a BIG Welcome to all our newest members. Good to see you all here and will be chatting again soon.

Luv to all & hasta la vista Gillian!!
