Is it 40 every year now then, Maxine? Very Happy

Gillian - it must be all the good party food you've been enjoying! Well anyway - if this lovely weather keeps up (fingers crossed!!) we'll all have to be careful that we don't melt away. Nice breeze today as well though - on and off - a good washing-drying day!! My line's full now Very Happy

The 'weather woman Carol' on 'Breakfast' said it would be a good day for curtains so I did one pair and they dried in no time!
Cheers Gillian

Hello All,

Welcome back from our short hiatus. Hope you had luck in Wales Gillian and Maxine, hope you are felling better. Carole we see you are continuing your battle with your PC, may you have success.

I thought I’d bring the original topic of this thread to closure. As first reported we had a skylight in the living room shattered during a storm. The insurance adjusted came by and provided a reasonably good settlement (more than adequate, less than generous). Repairs were completed last week. The skylight damaged was one of a pair. The company that made the skylights has been out of business for the past 10-years so to keep aesthetic symmetry; I decided to replace both skylights. The insurance adjuster had also identified damage to some shingles and the roof vent. Given the roof was 2/3rds or more through its expected life, we decided to have the house re-shingled. Now, the new skylights did not exactly fit the old opening so interior finishing work was required, which then led to matching the paint. And so the story goes - at some point buying a new house may have been the path of least resistance.

But, to make long story short we hired a roofing company to re-shingled the house and install the skylights. I installed the interior wood trim and did a little painting. We are now ready for our next homeowner’s adventure.

Hi Don!

Glad everything has been brought to a satisfactory conclusion! Have you had some heavy rain yet? Just to test the handiwork! We had a new roof some years ago and it was a mammoth undertaking, also very expensive.

Our trip to Wales went well thank you and I spent a morning in the record office which was interesting if not very productive! I did discover the handwritten baptism record of an adult baptism in 1831 of my Evans ancestor. I already had the transcript but it was good to get a copy of the original. We also did some family history sightseeing which was lovely. The weather was very mixed, no sitting on the beach but plenty of running from the showers I'm afraid!

I have just finnished all our washing and most of our son's family washing as he is around until tomorrow.

Cheers Gillian
