| Hi everyone! We watched the match in Spain and somehow managed to survive even though we seemed to hold our breath all the way through it. All I can say is that as a family we are very happy now! Our eldest son who has been a Man U supporter 'since he was knee high to a grass hopper' threw caution to the winds and flew to Moscow via M/C (he lives near Belfast). He stayed a couple of nights and experienced a bit of Russian culture, including the metro system which he found extremely challenging!! They don't write or speak his 'lingo' you see! However he eventually got to the match venue and even found his way back to the hotel after the match which is most remarkable! We were back from Spain in time to meet him at M/C airport on his return. He had very little voice left, a mere croak, was very weary but happy, so all is well that ends well. He is now back in NI in the bosom of his family and only has to pay the bill now!! M/C is very disappointed not to be having the usual open top bus parade of the cup and team through the city with an official reception at the Town Hall. However, there was so much disturbance, terror and damage caused last weekend by the Rangers 'supporters' who were in M/C that it is perhaps understandable that the authorities have ruled out any parade for the time being. It was a quite amazing match and Chelsea almost won it so it is disappointing for them. However, for those of us who remember the 'Munich disaster' it feels right that M/C should have won the trophy in the year of the Fiftieth anniversary of that dread night. Sir Bobby Charlton as one of the original survivors must have felt very emotional in Moscow when he received the special plaque. It was certainly good to see everyone safely home. | Hi Gillian. To see Bobby was a real joy. What a gentleman footballer he was. I always hold him up as an example to the boys. Never booked in his entire career. What about giggs when asked about the cup. He said it reminded him of a cadburys orange. It's not Terry's it's mine...lol Lots of love and welcome home.
