Hello Judy,

Just to update you. Your Introduction message about your Cheshire family history interests has now been moved to here - our new Cheshire Board. Its very quiet on this Board yet, but it is to be developed.

Your Username muffintetreault has now been added to the "Smith-Other UK" Usergroup. The only reason for this - your name will in future be displayed in green, as opposed to the red for those who are researching interests in Lancs, WR.Yorks & Isle of Man.

Would you like to give us some names for those you're looking for on the 1841 Census & then we can see what we can find for you? Look forward to hearing from you again. ck-smile

Hi Judy. Hope your still with us and not lost heart.
I would be happy to look on my CD's for your relatives Lucas and Loomis. I will look over the next couple of days and get back to you.
Take care.
Love to all

Hi Judy,

Unless Daz has been back to you with the Prestbury Parish look-ups already, I'm sure that he will be back here soon with that.

Are there any look-ups you need on the 1841 Census at all?

Chat again soon wave

Hi all.
Sorry Ive not been around. There hasn't been time for anything, even poetry.
You will have to bear with me a bit longer as we are away for the weekend going to Jo's dads 70th birthday party.
Am I right in thinking Lucas and Loomis are surnames not christian names? I've had a quick check on the cd. Remember these are marriage records only. Also they don't go to your required year. They finish in the late 1700's.
For Lucas there are only a few records and for loomis there are no marriage records. Now if Lucas was Lomas (which is closer to Loomis) there are lots of records. Is it possible that it could be Lomas.
I'm back after the weekend so stay in touch.
Love to all

Ooooh!! did we get that right Judy?

Anyway - just wanted to tell you Judy, that recently opened a "Brits to other continents" Board in "Around the UK Forum" (for those other than Australia). So - not much in there yet - but gradually working through our boards copying anything of USA relevance to that new board.

So - have quoted a copy of your kind offer, & hoping that's Ok with you..........
here it is.......... >>>New England USA - Resources Help offered>>>

Hi Judy, glad you found the forum, it's a great place to be as I found out when I joined fairly recently.

I do have Lucas ancestors on my Dad's father's side but I haven't much information on them, though what I do have you are welcome to.

As far as I'm aware, though Judy, they came over to Liverpool from Ireland and settled in the city but, having said that they could possibly have meandered across the Mersey into Cheshire which is only separated by a few minutes trip on a ferry/train.

As most Irish families were quite large it's entirely feasible that they had relatives who crossed over into the Cheshire areas.

I've tried several times to check out Charles and Mary LUCAS but I can't get any further back from 1881.

In 1881 the census records show that my paternal grandfather, Christopher Reid b. 1872 Liverpool, was living with an Uncle and Aunt by the names of Charles and Mary LUCAS both born Ireland.

There is also a Mary SMITH and her son, James, living in the same house. Both were born Ireland.

Next the 1891 census shows the same Lucas's and Smith's again living together but, by this time, my grandfather would be 19 and obviously away at sea.

I hope I haven't confused you with this and would be interested if you have any idea of the nationality of your Lucas ancestors.

Regards

Very Happy Hi earth2smiths,

I know that was way back in August, but thanks very much for sharing that information about your Lucas connection on this Topic, for the chance it could help Judy. I know you've also posted about your Smiths & Lucas's on your own Topics too.

It looks as though Judy hasn't been back here for a while, but perhaps she will be soon.

Judy wave when you do next call in, hope you'll please update us on how your research is going, and is there anything that you need help with at the moment?
