Original Introduction published last year on the Project' monthly notices page: | January 2006, wrote: | Lisa Dayley's website includes transcriptions of the journals of her ancestor Ralph Smith, ordained in Newcastle upon Tyne as an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ & Latter Day Saints.
In December 1854 Ralph & his family set sail from Liverpool to New Orleans. They eventually arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah in September 1855.
Lisa has yet to add many more transcribed pages of the Journal to her site - but I'm sure that all who read it so far, will want to continue as more unfolds.............. |
During this past year - Lisa has continued work on her transcription and now many more pages have been added to her website.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK LISA & please continue to keep us up to date on how it' going. Excellent job you've undertaken.

It really has been fun really reading and studying it for the first time. It definitely brings him to life. By the time I'm finished, I estimate I will have about 120 webpages filled with his journal......
I'm hoping that it will help me track down some more Girdlestone-Smith descendents. |
Ralph Smith, Lisa's great-great-grandfather, the Mormon Pioneer, whose Journal Lisa is transcribing -married Emma Girdlestone.
Lisa has written extensively about her Smith & Girdlestone - USA family history, & has published many lovely images of them on her site. The following link leads to a beautiful image of her great-grandmother, the youngest daughter of Ralph Smith and Emma Girdlestone....

The site also includes many American Historical Articles & Stories, researched and wirtten by Lisa herself - and definitely worth exploring by anyone interested.
