I am researching my wife’s family. Her Grandfather was James Smith b. 1861 in Lancaster, Lancashire, England and her Grandmother was Lilly (Lillian) Reedhead (Redhead) b. Islington, London, England 1863. They lived in Bradford, Yorkshire, England. For the 1901 Census. Ecclesiastical Parrish: Bradford St. Peter, Sub registration district Bradford East.
Their children were. Arthur 1890 Lily 1891 Robert 1894 Annie 1898 Dorothy 1892 Winifred 1901 Stephen 1902 Sidney F. 1905
Lily immigrated to the United States in 1910 with Winifred, Stephen L. and Sidney F. and possibly Dorothy but without her husband James. Lily died in Santa Clara County, California, USA about 1940. Her son Sidney F. is the father of my wife and her brother Tony. We would love to make contact with any living relatives of James and Lily Smith and to find out why James did not come to the US with Lily. Our speculation is he either died or they separated. Any help with this family or if you could point us in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Sincere Regards, Don & Judy Ayer |

| Hi Maxine, yes good idea, as others browsing the emigrants to USA messages on here, might just recognise a connection. Fingers crossed for Don and Judy
Judy - in view of your grandfather, James Smith, having been born in Lancaster, I've also quoted a copy on our "Lancashire-other-areas" board...... here..... >> James Smith b.Lancaster 1861(later to Bradford WRY) >>
If any other members would like to contact Don and Judy, please reply on their original topic on the West Riding Board.... here... >> James & Lily Smith, Bradford 1901 Census >> _________________ Carole, Smith Project/Smith Chat Admin Nothing is too small to know, and nothing too big to attempt (William Van Horne) |
