Quotes from >> Elvis Biography as told by his parents >>
Quote:
When told that that both the Elvis and the Presley family's genealogy remain important in England today, they remarked they didn't know that there was a connection. "I never heard tell of any of my kinfolk coming over from anywhere." said Vernon, "I guess it must have been a long way back. We just seem always to have been here. And it's the same with Gladys' family, the Smiths."
Quote:
Various authors have researched Elvis genealogy to varying degrees of accuracy. Although an official genealogy has not yet been completed by Graceland Archives, there is evidence that Elvis' heritage includes, Welsh, English, Scottish, Irish, French, Dutch, German, Cherokee and Jewish ancestry.

Elvis's Scottish Ancestry
(the following are my own notes as I understood it from another page I studied at the same site, link below)

6 years research undertaken by Allan Morrison, Scotsman, historian and writer, into Elvis's Scottish ancestry.

The mythology had been that Elvis's family had been from Paisley in Scotland, and because it was common for emigrants to the USA, to adopt the name of their home-town as their surname, it had been speculated that over time Paisley had become Presley.

However, Allan Morrisey traced the family back to Aberdeenshire and the village and parish of Lonmay where in 1713, Andrew Presley married Elspeth Leg. In 1745, their son Andrew (Jnr) Presley arrived in North Carolina, USA.

............... much more at the following page >> Scottish Elvis >>
(which also includes an Elvis look-a-like in Scottish dress!! - unfortunately this site seems to be very strict on copyright, so I can't borrow any images from it)

Last week, I wrote:

Due to very strict copyright on the site mentioned, I'm unable to copy any of the photos of Gladys Love Presley nee SMITH. But would like
to include a photograph of Gladys in our "Notable SMITHs" 2008 Calendar.,,,,,, etc,,,,,,,,,,,, snip,,,,If anyone finds a photo of Gladys, and/or one of Elvis which are freely.,,,,,, etc,,,,,,,,,,,, snip

It's OK everyone, I got this lovely one

Have some new info now too about the Native American and Jewish connections
in Glady's Smith Family Tree. Will post it soon on this Topic.
