Smiths from Gloucester & Birmingham

Hi,
This is my first time of using a Chat site - hope I'm going around it the right way.. My name is Joan Canning, I live in a small country town in Victoria, Australia.
My interest in the Smith name originates from my ggGrandfather, Charles Smith, born Gloucester approx.1813, married Hester Beer, 16th April, 1832. The family moved to Birmingham approx. 1842 where my gGrandfather was born in 1851, one of 12 children. Frederick married Letitia Jemima Haynes in Birmingham in 1872. My Grandmother Rose Ada Smith was born 1874 and the family moved to Australia in 1877. Eventually settling in Melbourne. I know nothing of the movements of Frederick's brothers and sisters. There was never any mention of them here in Australia.
Currently my Smith line has hit a brick wall have been unable to go further back than Charles.
Hopefully someone else may visit this site and find a connection with my Smiths.

Thanks for telling us about your Smith interests of Gloucester & Birmingham. Yes, it would be good to find information about Frederick's siblings wouldn't it. Have you got any of their names and approximate dates of birth, maybe from the Census?
