You will have to inform us now.. Maxine | Yep I'm in Australia, Brisbane to be precise, making it very difficult to trace NSW and Victoria. Basically if it isn't online or I can't buy it I have no access to it. Thanks for the welcome. My SMITH is a bit of a hard one as I am sure they all are. I am not sure yet if he may have been a convict too! I am starting a collection lol I already have 4 and my Hubby has 1 so far......What does that say about me :ck-wink: ..... anyway I hope to catch up with you all, I hope there is somone connected to me that would be great!!! Well Chillen is our moderator for Austraila and Mattycat is the resident problem solver. If we can halp we will. Yep all Smiths are hard. So if they are Austrailan smiths then please post on the Austrialian board and as much information you can give will help. Or the relevent area board.

I live in Perth Western Australia and I know what you mean about it being hard to trace people from over here. I have put on the Australia Board lots of interesting research sites that might interest you, there is a good one about the Smith names that come over the first fleets.
Let us know what you have so far and we can go from there, go to the Australia Board and post who, where and when your ancestors left the UK.
Were you born in Australia or did you immigrate.
If I can help you in anyway let me know and I will do my best and please feel free to help my out on the Australia Boards with anything you think we would find interesting.
Nice to have another Aussie on Board and good luck
Hope to see you around a lot

Good to see you hear and Welcome to Smith Chat.
I haven't been online for a couple of days, so I'm sorry I wasn't here to Welcome you when you first arrived, but I see that the moderators mattycat, maxine & chellin have already given you a very warm welcome, & a good introduction to what we're about.
Look forward to hearing from you again Michelle. Do you know which area of the UK your Smiths were from?
Taraa for now,
| Sorry guys, I missed the last few replies in this thread somehow. Carol, unfortunately I don't know where my Smith's originated as yet. I am pretty sure he was a convict though so when I finally get all of the papers I need and am on the right track I will let you all know. as I said in the other thread, I have a few pretty solid leads I am following at the moment and I will post as soon as I have all the info, I wish I had more resources for the UK for the rest of my family though. I am having trouble with Scottish family at the moment. They're pretty hard buggers to track. lol. Does anyone know much about Scotland? Regards, Michelle :wave2:~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Convicts R Us - proudly collecting convicts since 1998. We have collected 5 to date.
