| Hi Maxine, Thank you for those kind words.
Last night saw the start of the NAB cup night matches. A knockout comp of four rounds (round 1, qtr Finals, Semi finals & Final) which immediately preceeds the season proper. The first match was between Adelaide (Crows) and Collingwood (Pies) and (ROFL) the Crows (ROFL) beat (trounced) the Pies (ROFLL) by 81 points. Sorry ConvictsRus I couldn't resist. I just hope the Bombers manage to win their first match under their new coach.
Waiting with bated breath for further matches
John

| I think I will be on the side of the Crows of Adelaide, as my great-grandad Timothy Hughes lived there for many years and is buried there. Also my Sutcliffe cousins - the "Surprise Sisters" girl band - emigrated to Adelaide. So - go the Crows!!

| Hi everyone Well the preliminaries are over with St Kilda winning the NAB Cup. This Easter Weekend saw the start of the season proper with a convincing win to the Mighty Bombers with the second highest winning margin. Unhappily for Chellin, Freo lost again, and to make matters worse it was to Collingwood, making ConvictsRUs, my son and grandson very happy. Sorry to say Carole, the Adelaide Crows lost as well in a very close and exciting game against the Bulldogs (Footscray). In that match Brad Johnston of the Bulldogs was playing his 300 th match and kicked the winning goal. St Kilda continued their winning form from the NAB cup, beating Sydney by 2 points, the lowest winning margin of the round. Until next week Go The Bombers!! johnt |

| G'day Cobbers, After that necessary break for maintenance we resume the nail biting events of AFL footy. Round 2 I was unable to report on this round before the break due to extenuating circumstances, I was feeling low due to the Bombers just being beaten by Geelong (by 99 points). On the good side Fremantle & Collingwood also got beaten, and the Adelaide Crows defeated the West Coast Eagles. St Kilda continued on its winning ways. Round 3 This round was named as the Rivalry Round and numerous on field episodes are being examined by the Tribunal The mighty Bombers are back on the winners list for the moment. Freo finally had a win, defeating the Eagles in the local derby. Adelaide, Collingwood, and Geelong also won, While St Kilda suffered it's first loss for the season. Only three teams remain undefeated so far, Geelong, Hawthorn, & the Western Bulldogs (Footscray) For anyone interested full details are available on WWW.AFL.com.au Cheers Johnt |

| Hi All
Round 4 is now completed and Collingwood pulled off the surprise of this round by managing to get soundly beaten by Carlton, a team that had lost its last 14 matches in a row ROFLOL. Essendon we will not talk about!!!!!! Freo lost again, as did local rivals West Coast Eagles, and both Adelaide teams lost as well LOL (Sorry Carole) Three teams remain unbeaten as Geelong inflicted another defeat to St Kilda, Hawthorn won against the Crows, and the Western Bulldogs beat that team we will not talk about. Next weeks matches features the Crows (Carole) v Freo (Chellin) and St Kilda v Essendon (Go the Bombers) Collingwood plays north Melbourne (but who cares)
Till next week TTFN Johnt |

| Hi John! Just to let you know your update has arrived safely. I don't know much about Australian Football unfortunately but I do know a bit about Man U. We keep up with their progress even when we are in Spain and enjoyed their latest triumph over Arsenal! ( Sorry if there are any Arsenal fans out there). As a family we also support Stockport County (somebody has to) and they aren't doing too badly all things considered! Adios Gillian _________________ ''What will survive of us is love.'' | Wal, Victorian Teams have been winning the premiership nearly every year this Century. Just because we had to export the Lions and the Swans interstate doesn't stop them from being Fiztroy and South Melbourne. Have a look at the initials on the back of their guernseys just under the collar. FFC & SMFC LOL John |

| G'day All Wal I didn't mention the lions and the Swans because at the time no one was interested in them, but in future I will give the full results. The highlights of round 5 were a close fought draw between the western bulldogs and richmond tigers and port power winning its first match for the season, leaving only melbourne yet to record a victory. The bulldogs and the tigers match was a ding dong battle with both sides taking the lead on numerous occasions. Collingwood lost again, going down to North Melbourne (Kangaroos) ROFLOL The Adelaide Crows beat Freo. (Not doing to well Chellin but Carole will be happy) That team not to be mentioned lost to a resurgent St Kilda. (Maybe next week. Go the Bombers) Geelong and Hawthorn continued on their winning ways defeating the Swans and the Lions respectively. Port Power beat the West Coast Eagles and Carlton defeated a lacklustre Melbourne Demons team. Hoping your team wins next week, except for Collingwood who play Essendon in their regular ANZAC DAY match. Till then TTFN John |
