Wal,
You've obviously been living too long in far north QLD and have gone troppo. You've forgotten "Footy" is a religion and not a joking matter. (Except as far as the "Pies" are concerned) Glad to see you are not to far gone and are following a better team.

Cheers, John

Hi All Sports Lovers,

Seafood.... Yuk!!!!! English Fish & Chips is my limit.

Round 6 saw few surprises, the biggest one probably being Freo only losing by 1 point to Geelong. In the signature match of the round on Anzac Day, Collingwood just managed to beat that team that we will not name (by 12 goals which was almost double the dons score) but who cares.
Adelaide Crows had a win over Carlton (don't cheer to loud Carole). The Bulldogs defeated the W.C. Eagles and Port Power had a win over St Kilda. Melbourne lost to the Brisbane Lions and Richmond went down to the high flying Hawks (Hawthorn)
The most controversial match of the round was between North Melbourne and Sydney who fought to a draw. It was later revealed that at one time Sydney had an extra man on the ground, but because the opposing captain didn't notice or complain at the match end the result stood.

Till next time
John

G'day Footy Fans

Round 7 saw Melbourne finally break through for a win as Freo let a winning half time lead of 8 goals + get whittled away and allowing the Demons to win by a single goal (Hard luck Chellin)
Carlton had a good win over the W.C.Eagles and Geelong came from behind (again) to eclipse the Brisbane Lions.
Collingwood had a morale sapping loss to Hawthorn, ROFLOL, and St Kilda had a win over Richmond.
Carole's team the Crows had a good win over a lack-lustre North Melbourne and the Bulldogs beat Sydney.
In the last match of the round Port Power trounced that team we don't mention. (Kevin Sheedy, where are you now?)

Til next week "UP THERE CAZALY" John

Hi sports Lovers,

This week's report on "Aerial Ping-Pong" (I'm still a Bluddy Pom at heart) is a short one.(Only one match this week) The first ever Aussie Rules footy match took place on May 9th 1858 and so to celebrate 150 years of footy a special Legends Tribute match took place last night (May 9th 2008) between Victoria and the so called DREAM Team. The Victorian team was comprised of players born in Victoria only, while the Dream team was from the rest of Australia. The lead changed hands throughout the game but in the dying minutes the Dream Team were caught dreaming and Victoria went on to win by 17 points. A just result for the leaders of footy.

"Go the Vics"

As an aside Australia played a Centenary Rugby League Test against New Zealand and won 28 - 12

"Go the Melbourne Storm"

Hi Everyone!

Well the REALLY big news this week is that one of our sons has got a match ticket, flights and hotel for Moscow in 10 days time!! He is a Man U supporter. He may end up bankrupt as a result of the trip but at least he will enjoy going bankrupt - especially if they win!

Cheers Gillian

Hi Footy Fans

Sorry for the break but I was so disgusted with the results, I just couldn't talk about them.

Results for Round 8
Collingwood 103 St Kilda 94
Hawthorn 117 Port Power 102
Geelong 96 Richmond 69
Brisbane 125 Carlton 92
North Melb. 89 West Coast Eagles 83
Adelaide 150 Melbourne 74
Sydney 143 Essendon 52
Footscray 114 Fremantle 111

Round 9 produced an unexpected result, not so much in who won but in the scores. The match of the round saw league leaders Geelong playing hopefuls Collingwood. A good close match was forecast but Geelong might as well have not turned up as the Pies ran out easy winners 134 to 48.
Freo and the Crows went down to Carlton and the W.C.E, respectively. Sydney had a close win over Port Power, Hawthorn had a 19 point win over Melbourne and Richmond and Brisbane had easy wins against Essendon and St Kilda.
The closest match of the round was between North Melbourne and Footscray. Just before the final kick of the match North led by 4 points and a goal would give Footscray the lead and a win. The kick only resulted in a point and North won by 3 points.

At least United won.

Until next week. John

Hi John!

Yes! 'At least United won' and what a match! Thankfully all returned home safely, if somewhat later than expected. Our younger son went to Wembley on Monday to watch Stockport County in the play offs.......and they won too! Now they go into the first division-- what a week. Chris says Wembly is a most striking and attractive construction now, well it ought to be after what it cost, and well organised although, perhaps inevitably, goods purchased inside tend to be expensive.

Cheers Gillian
