| Good Morning,Time for a trip down memory lane. Do you remember the Magic Kingdom? When I was a kid, every Sunday evening the Disney Hour was on TV. This was when The Magic Kingdom, Disneyland in California, first opened. There were great shows, Peter Pan, Davy Crocket, Mickey Mouse, etc. All the kids wanted to visit Disney Land. I never got there – as a kid that is. In 1990, we took a family vacation to California. One of the places visited was Disney Land. Now Disney Land is not as big as Disney World in Florida but even after 30+ years, it lived up to expectations. I found the following on the web. There is some nostalgic photos here.Disneyland Entrance Photo tour of Disneyland in the 1950s and 1960s, using snapshots and slides from visitors. (Click on Disneyland Entrance ) Working with some photos our visit in 1990, I found the photo shown here (I’ve edited it a bit).

There is a Walt Disney World Resort in France. Has any one been there?
Was the Disney Hour broadcast in England in the 50's and early 60's? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Don

| Mornin Don, Well I can't remember if there was a programme named "Disney Hour" on TV here in the UK when I was a child 1950s-60s - but vaguely remember watching Donald Duck & other Disney cartoons on TV. But also vaguely remember a programme that started with an image of a Castle - that looked like the one on your great photograph above, and the opening music was "When you wish upon a star". Could that have been the "Disney Hour"? Its a wonderful photograph that, Don! I haven't been to Disney World in France myself, but I think my grandson Ben went about 3 or 4 years ago or so, with his mum and dad. Must ask him about that when I see him on Thursday & if he can remember much about it. I got a digital camera as a Christmas present this year, and keep trying to find a bit of time to get my head around how to work it properly, then will get out there click-clicking!! See you later Carole PS; Would you believe, it's a lovely day today in East Lancs. Still cold of course - but nice and sunny, birds singing merrily out there, Spring bulbs and other plants sprouting up in the garden Ooh lovely thought - Spring on the way!! ____________________ |

| Hi Everyone :wave2: I'm a great fan of Walt Disney, watched all the early films, Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and many more. My favourite film is 101 Dalmations(cartoon version) and I love going to the Disney store when I'm in Cardiff(nearest big city). My favourite is Tigger and I have slippers, dressing and pyjams with Tigger on. My daughters like Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore, we are just big kids. I went to Disneyland, Paris for my 40th birthday and would love to go again. I remember the music "When you wish upon a star". but not sure what the programme was called. Jean |

| Hi everyone, Oh yep, I love all those Disney characters too. Meant to mention the other day - For interest..... good friend of mine John Disney who lives in Heysham, Morecambe, where I lived for about 10 years - is descended from the same DISNEY family as Walt. John was born in Derbyshire but moved to Lancaster area in adulthood. I think it is that his direct ancestor was a sibling or first cousin of Walt. Oops forgot today to ask grandson Ben about Disneyland, France. Will try and remember to ask him tomorrow. I'm off to do some more updating at the Smith List site now for an hour - so if I don't get back here tonight (Thursday) - see you tomorrow evening at some time or other Carole |
