| What are your favorite web sites, not including genealogy sites? Two sites I find interesting are The Drudge Report and reddit. Although both sites are targeted to an American audience there are many international items presented. The Drudge Report tracks current and breaking news. It is a conservative site as reflected in the articles it tracks. reddit tracks items found on the web that readers submit (there is some strange stuff in this world). This site has a more liberal predisposition. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Don

| Hola Don! Well, you've got me stumped here! I tend to visit web sites that I am directed to by the google search engine. However, being English and obsessed by the weather I often view the BBC weather site which I consider to be fairly reliable! I also love maps and always want to know where to find places so I like 'Multi map' and 'google earth' Adios Gillian |

| Hi Don & Gillian, Yes - had to think about this - but then realised there are quite a lot of non-genealogy websites that I like to visit. Yes, like you Gillian, I like maps!! & Google earth is brilliant! I go on there with my grandson Ben (age 8) sometimes & he likes spinning around the world to look at different places. And multimap - and especially the "Old maps" site, & any sites that have old photos of different places - especially Lancashire!! Quite a lot of other sites I share with my grandson too - for playing games etc. And we both love the BBC Kids for History site, as there are quizzes & games and stuff that helps the children learn about the history & at the same time improving their computer skills. I like any sites to do with animals & birds, and going back to sites about places I've visited. Went to Knowsley Safari Park at the end of last school term with Ben & his class from school. We had a great day - & we like going to the Safari Park website to remininisce about the animals we saw!! So - apart from my genealogy - mostly - websites that I can share & enjoy with Ben. See y'all later, Carole :(skip): PS: I'll come back to this message later - and add the links to the sites I've mentioned. |

| Gillian and CaroleMap sites are useful. I use Google all the time and find the site extremely useful. I’ve heard of 'GoogleEarth' but did not look into it until now. I just downloaded the mapping program and will install it when I finish here. PS World had an article in October’s issue (Kings of the Road), which identifies their selection of the best mapping sites. They are "Microsoft Live Search”, “Ask City”, “Yahoo Maps”, “ Google”, and “MapQuest”. Microsoft Live Search might be worth investigating, Google is good, but MapQuest has provided bad information on some occasions. As far as weather, I use AccuWeather.com. This site appears to track weather in only North America but you may find it of interest to see the impact of storms that are newsworthy. Here is a link to pictures at the National Zoo in Washington DC. Its been years since I visited the Zoo. A visit might make for a nice fall outing – a chance to get some new photos anyway. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Don

| Hi everyone, I have just had a look in my favorites and i'm afaid i have Genealogy mainly but as i was diagnosed with ME this year I have a lot of there sites as i'm researching it AND I joined the Bury and Bolton ME CFS Support Group . The other sites I have are Gamekeeping as my son passed the National Diplomer in Countryside Management with Gamekeeping and between both of us we look for Jobs for him. Because he was not born into game keeping hes finding it very hard to get a start. Last but not least is my poultry sites and this one is practical poultry and i get this magazine every month. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Maxine Friendship~ Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down. - Oprah Winfrey

| Hi all. there are some great sounding sites here that I will have to check. Good luck with the job search Maxi, your son's done really well. Cas, do a google search with Ben for treasure maps, you get some really good maps on pirate treasure and some sites have games also. I went on with Nathi and Mikey. I printed one map off and then browned the edges with my lighter. They thought it was great. Then I made another map of our back garden and again burnt the edges. Then I buried an old tin where x marked the spot. They had a great time. Talk soon. Love to all. Daz xxx ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My family are like stars in the night sky of my life. | Hi Daz we did one better than that, when the kids where young Ivor and I made a treasure map whilst on holiday. Tea stained and roughed up Ivor set it in the morning as he took the dog for her walk and when we went to the beach they found a bottle with a treasure map in and when they found X they found smarties...Joanne asked me the other week how we did that one. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Maxine Friendship~ Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down. - Oprah Winfrey
