Very Happy Time for more TV trivia. One of the better series on TV has been Foyle's War. We have sets 1 thru 4, set 4 remains to be opened. I thought I'd save it for later this fall (real reason is I don't want to see the series come to an end :shrug]: )

Question of the day is, where does this series take place?

Hi Don.
It is a great series but my wife didn't like it, I will have to get the DVD's.
Another great and to me the best of all time, it just came in front of the Beverly Hillbillys was the 4077th. MASH. The best series ever. Every time you watched it, it did your heart good. When I lived in Canada I used to watch past, present and future all in the same night. I was living in Canada when the last one went out, we had a mash party as did everyone in America. What a night. But what did you really think of that last episode? Did it bring it all together, or go off at the deep end?
I'll tell you what I thought after you.
Love to all

Hola Don!

Yes we enjoyed much of this series but did not see them all by any means. The action took place on the Sussex coast around Hastings. This was another drama that succeeded in catching the atmosphere of the times.

Hasta la vista Gillian

Daz, I enjoyed MASH for many years and continue to do so occasionally on reruns. I don't recall the final episode Embarassed , although I probably watch it. MASH was a satire on war. Regardless of the political undertones, the show was very entertaining.

Gillian, good stuff!! yes it was the Sussex coast around Hastings - lovely countryside.

good stuff!! M.A.S.H was mine and my daughters favourite programme.
They liked Frank, but I preferred Charles, and B.J not Trapper.
I have most of the series on tape, which we still watch now and again.

Hi Don, Daz, Gillian and JFS,

I haven't really followed Foyle's War regularly enough to comment on it - but would like to watch it all through some time. Yes, MASH - excellent, and Frank was my favourite, JFS.

Daz, you mentioned Beverley Hillbillies. Oh that was brilliant!! Our Janet and I used to love it when we were children - always looked forward to it, used to sit excitedly waiting for it to come on! Elly May and Jethro, haa haa, it was funny - and old Granny Clampett with her viddles in the big cooking pot!!

From my childhood, I think that the Beverley Hillbillies and Mr Ed (the talking horse) were my favourite American programmes!!

All these old shows - brings back memories. As for MASH characters, I go with Hot Lips.

I liked colonel Potter and clinger but Hawkeye was the tops.
The last show was really good and 2 hours as well.
It showed that no matter how good you are at using humour to get through a tough and tragic situation, eventually it will break you. Throughout the series there were episodes that dealt with emotional subjects along with the fun but in the last one it showed Hawkeye in a psychiatric ward and having flashbacks about a Korean woman and a chicken on a bus.
It was really them on the bus keeping quiet because Korean soldiers were close by and it wasn't a chicken but a baby the women was holding. The women had put her hand over the babies mouth to stop it crying and had suffocated it.
It was about Hawkeye coming to terms with this and really. really sad. I thought it was a fantastic episode and ended with BJ waving goodbye to Hawkeye as his Helicopter took off. Bj was on the motorbike he'd always wanted and bounced off down the hill. If I remember it right, it was around 25 years ago now. What a series !!!!!!!
