Mornin' Maxine,

Aaaah I can't for the life of me remember his name!! He was a well-known swimmer. He used to go around to holiday resorts in the Summer seasons, swimming with children, around mid-1980s?? We once met him at Pontins Holiday Centre at Hemsby (near Great Yarmouth, Norfolk) when my son was about age 10. And I remember the "swimmer" (whatever his name is) with all the children in the Pool - and they had a great time! Ooh is the swimmer called Duncan?? In fact I think I might have a photo too or a Certificate that my son got from him - as all the children did. Rings a lot of bells!!

I have contacted Matey to find out what was going on as i have forgotten and they are looking into it for me- which i thought was nice- as i did not expect a reply.

It was taken in 1984 on Littlehampton Beach sussex.
Paul walked over to Duncan and said 'how would you like your photo taken with me, insead of asking if he could have his photo taken with Duncan.

Gillian, my mum could not swim but she made sure that all the kids that came through our house could swim. My parents fostered and i am an only child and the could not have any more. I still enjoy swimming and i took my kids to the baths and Joanne did very well over the years and swam for her school but Lee sinks like a stone, but he is afraid of water and moves around it well with out swimming well.

I would love to have a pool that i could use. I tried to get Ivor to put me in a lap pool in the back garden but he would not do it.

That's a lovely story. Let us know if you get any more information from Matey, that'll be interesting to know.

What year would it be then - about 1983 to 1985-ish? do you think? about the same time that we met Duncan Goodhew at Pontins in Norfolk? It looks about the same time I think.
