Good Morning Chatters and Guests.

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Had a session re-arranging the Portal yesterday. Was ready for a change around on that page. Still have to update the bottom half yet (the part below the slideshows). And as you can, we now have a copy of both of our slideshows on there now - stretching the full width of the Portal page.

Our Slideshows
The Pet Lovers slideshow is maintained by Maxine - so if you'd like your pets' pics included on there - post your images and stories about them in Pet Lovers Corner & Maxine will choose the ones she'd like to add to the slideshow.

The other, is our Frappr Map slideshow. That includes any images posted to the Map by our members, and other images that I can add or change at any time. It would be good to have copies of all our Smith Chat members Avatars on there too (if different from the ones you added yourselves to the map). So please leave a note on this thread if you agree to me copying your avatar for that purpose.

Want more new images for Slideshow number 2!!
Also - post here on this thread, any other images that you'd like adding to the 2nd Slideshow. When you insert your images to the posts - grateful if you could please keep them to a maximum of 480 pxls width :ck-wink:

British TV Sitcoms
What are your favourites? - go to today's Beagle Log and tell Don!!

Keep sharing your family history interests
And last but certainly by no means least!! Please continue to post and share your Smith and related surnames family history interests, and help build our Around the Uk & Ireland Forum into a more and more useful resource for all of we Smith researchers (we all know that we need all the help we can get from each other!!Laughing )

Have a great day!! & see y'all later in the week wave

Hi Carole,

Of course you can add my avatar

Hola Carole!

Please use my avatar and do you want a picture from Spain?
Gillian
PS glad you're going to use 'vigilant'- thanks GB

Carole wrote:
Thanks Maxine and Gillian,

and yes please Gillian, a photo from Spain would be lovely for our Map slideshow too. Very Happy and any other photos you'd like to see on there. Then I'll have a session - removing some of the old ones that I put on there at the beginning (not the ones that members' posted themselves - they will remain there)

You'll see I added to the map slideshow - the Wales flag - which is JFS's Avatar - but I already had that in my collection too.

I want some more flags (not animated, as I only have animated ones for others) for England, Scotland, Ireland, Union Jack, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand - and then will spread those out throughout our world map slideshow, somehow. So if you come across any of these (non-animated, same size as Wales) would be grateful for those too..... good stuff!!

- needs reducing>>>

Australia> NewZealand>

Spanish Princess, Catherine of Aragon.

long suffering first Queen of Henry VIII, and mother of Mary I

Thinking I might put her portrait on the slideshow with the other nice Spanish images.

Hiya Maxine,

Ooh that's a wonderful old photo. Is this the farmhouse of some of your Ripponden ancestors? Its brilliant.

I'd got a bit carried away after I found the Spanish flag!! Laughing
Anyway, we can start getting together a few pics for Lancashire, Yorkshire & Isle of Man now I think!! for the Slideshow. Must include the red rose and the white rose, and maybe a Tudor rose too.

See you later aligator wave

Any more, anyone??? Very Happy

wave Hola Gillian and Happy Sunday Morning to you!!

Oh there's no hurry!! I'm not ready for doing the slideshow update just yet, and even if I did - any more can be added any time.

I know what you mean about getting in a muddle. I've been sorting out family photos and other pics & mine are all over the place too!! Got a pile at my house, and a pile at my mum & dad's house that we're still sorting out for scanning. Some on my dad's computer, some on mine, & some on my old computer (that I can only get into in "Safe Mode" - then have to copy to floppy disc). Yes - a muddle indeed!!

Maxine's just got a new scanner - so she's busy doing the same job too!! We're all going scanning mad Laughing

Have a great day - might see you again later.

Carole

Hola Carole!

After a massive tussle with my computer (which came off worst!) I have finally managed to upload this picture of daybreak (aurora) on the last day of 2005 taken from our Spanish doorstep.

I shall now have a cup of ea to celebrate, cheers Gillian

Gillian, That is a great picture. Carole had a nice sunset the other day. I'm thinking about a Beagle Log topic on sunsets. Will now have to include sunrises.

Carole, of course you can use my avatar. It is currently on the Frappr Map.

As for pictures, here is one of the Old Family Homestead on Wilson Hill in Colrain Massachusetts. This is the farm that Chester Smith (my great grandfather) managed for his father-in-law, Dennis Wilson. Quality is not great. Picture is around 1880/90.

The house is still there but not in this state of repair. There is now very busy secondary highway not far from the front of the house.

The picture was taken from a book published befor the turn of the last century (1900) focusing on well know citizens of Franklin County, in this case Dennis Wilson.
